DIY grape press. Do-it-yourself grape press manufacturing process

A large grape crop cannot be stored for long periods in clusters, so there is a need for its quick processing. A simple grape press makes this process easier. The device can be purchased ready-made or made independently. The second option is preferable, given that the finished units are not cheap.

The press is used to squeeze juice from the berries. The device is a juicer equipped with structural elements:

  • barrel (basket);
  • frame with a fixed pressing device;
  • a screw or lever that drives the mechanism;
  • filter surface;
  • receiving capacity for juice.

After loading the grapes into the basket, the pressing device is started. Under the influence of a weighting agent, the juice is squeezed, and then, passing through the filter, flows into the receiving container.

Advantages and disadvantages

The press juicer greatly facilitates the processing of grapes and other soft berries. The unit has the following advantages:

  • simple construction;
  • low noise during operation;
  • obtaining the maximum amount of high-quality juice or wort, thanks to the features of the unit, which allows not to crush the skin, combs, seeds of grapes;
  • processing of various berries and fruits due to the regulation of gaps in the pressing element;
  • lack of foaming;
  • accelerating the process of squeezing juice, reducing the complexity.

There are only two drawbacks in the operation of the apparatus: leakage of the structure, due to which the juice comes into contact with the environment; the possibility of mold formation with insufficient cleaning and drying of the press after completion of the extraction.

Classification

The grape press must be made from environmentally friendly materials. In this regard, only wood and steel are used for the production of aggregates. In addition, devices for squeezing juice are classified by the method of work, design, performance.

By way of work

Depending on the type of power and method of operation, the following types of equipment are used:

  • mechanical and manual grape press - suitable for use in private households, can be done with your own hands, but physical effort is required for spinning;
  • electrical unit - it can be auger, pneumatic or hydraulic, characterized by high productivity, low labor costs, but is expensive (about 30 thousand rubles);
  • universal press - the peculiarity is that they can process any vegetables, berries and fruits, such a device works from the mains.

Universal

By material

The equipment for pressing grapes is made of wood or metal:

  1. Press with a wooden barrel or basket. If it is possible to make a press for winemaking with your own hands, then linden, beech or oak should be used as the material for the basket. These types of wood are durable, quickly dried, do not crack or warp during drying.
  2. The metal unit. The structural elements are made of stainless steel, which increases the cost. Such a press is durable, hygienic, easy to clean and care. Contact of grapes with working elements of the press does not add extraneous odors to the juice.

The wooden press is demanding in care. It must be thoroughly washed, disinfected, dried, checked for mold.

By volume and power

The performance of the press is determined by its type, electric motor power and the volume of processed raw materials.

  1. High-performance units - continuous electric screw presses. They can squeeze up to 5 tons of grapes per hour, their dimensions: length - 2.2 m, width - 1 m, height - 1.5 m. Engine power 2.2 kW. Such equipment is appropriate for industrial enterprises or viticulture farms with large volumes of processed material.
  2. Hydraulic and pneumatic presses are batch units. Productivity reaches up to 40 liters of juice from one bookmark. They are used if you plan to make wine regularly or organize craft production.
  3. For small volumes in the household, it is advisable to use a screw, self-assembled grape press. Its performance is determined by individual needs. Devices with a basket volume from 2.5 to 25 liters are manufactured industrially, which make it possible to get from 1 to 25 liters of juice for one tab, respectively.

By design

According to the design features of the press are divided into:

  1. Screw - a mechanical press for squeezing grapes with their own hands. The working capacity is a wooden basket or a perforated metal barrel, where crushed pulp or whole grapes are placed. The spinning process is carried out due to the rotation of the handle of the pressing element, mounted on a screw auger or rod. Screw presses are simple and trouble-free, performance depends on the size of the basket.
  2. Jacking - pressing is carried out using a piston (jack). It can be fixed on top, the pressing force, in this case, is supplied to the pressure plate. If the jack is secured from below, then the basket rises to the still fixed pressing plate. In any case, the grapes are compressed between the bottom of the basket and the plate. It is convenient to work with such a press without making significant physical efforts. They are manual, hydraulic or pneumatic.
  3. Screw - are divided into manual and electrical. The principle of operation is similar to a meat grinder and lies in the fact that thanks to the screw, the pulp is mixed relative to the perforated drainage surface and is subjected to active mechanical stress. With this treatment, seeds can be crushed and the skin of the grapes ground. Phenolic and nitrogenous substances pass into the wort. A suspension may form in it.
  4. Lever - the most primitive view. A bag of grapes is placed between the board and the lever connected in a non-hinged manner. Due to the force exerted on the lever, the berries are squeezed between the pressing surfaces. Such presses are leaky, labor intensive, and low productivity in comparison with jack and screw machines.

The quality of the juice obtained depends on how the grape press is made and how it is operated. Before starting work, the grapes must be washed, sorted, separated berries from brushes, they can not be peeled. She gives the juice and wine a nice bouquet.

Raw materials for pressing:

  • whole berries are used to make juice;
  • pulp, allows you to fully reveal the aroma of grapes, it is recommended for wine materials.

The pulp is a mixture of crushed berries, consisting of juice, pulp, peel and seeds. It is prepared using a grape crusher.

The sequence of actions when working with the press:

  1. Fix the device motionless on a horizontal level surface to avoid displacement.
  2. Prepare a container for collecting cake. It can be a bucket, tank, pan.
  3. Place a container under the outlet hose or chute into which the juice will drain.
  4. Put a plastic bag on the piston plate to prevent the piston from abrasing against solid particles of the pulp. Turn the handle to set the screw to the upper position.
  5. Cover the inner surface of the press basket with a clean, coarse weaved white cloth (you can use material from bags made from flour or sugar). The edges of the fabric should hang from the walls of the basket. This will facilitate the extraction of oilcake.
  6. Put the pulp or berries in a basket, cover with hanging corners of the fabric. Place the basket under the piston.
  7. Tighten the screw of the press until the juice appears. Slowly rotate the screw with the handle until significant resistance is felt.
  8. Stop the rotation of the screw. After a break of 30-60 seconds, start turning the screw again. This technology allows you to fully reveal the cell membranes of grapes.
  9. After the juice stops draining, turn the screw to the upper position with the handle.
  10. To better squeeze the grapes, repeat the process of rotating and stopping the screw 2-3 times.
  11. After spinning, the press screw should be set to its original position by turning it in the opposite direction.
  12. Remove fabric contents from basket. Transfer the cake to a previously prepared container. Add a small amount of water so that it covers the cake for 1-2 cm. After 3-4 hours, warm the mixture to 65 degrees. This will maximize juice extraction. Spin again. More than three times squeezing the pulp is not recommended, this leads to the accumulation of suspended matter in the must.
  13. After the end of the process, disassemble the device, clean all parts, rinse well, wipe and dry. To wash the basket, regardless of whether it is made of wood or metal, synthetic detergents should not be used. You can use soda or salt.
  14. Keep the press in a dry, ventilated area.

Squeeze white grapes should be after preliminary crushing. Red - winemakers recommend sending it to spin after several days of fermentation.

If the wooden basket is covered with mold, then it must be washed with cold water and cleaned well with a brush. Then you can prepare a solution of sulfuric acid (100 g per 2 l of water) and wipe it with the entire surface of the basket using a brush or a piece of cloth. After two days, rinse with liquor (aqueous solution of wood ash) to neutralize the acid, then with clean water.

Another way to get rid of mold is to coat the surface of the basket with lime. After two days, clean and rinse everything with water. Then process the basket with sand and rinse with ammonia (3 tablespoons in 5 liters of water). If the mold is not old, it can be scraped off with a knife, then steamed the basket with oak sawdust. The moldy parts of the press basket cannot be washed with boiling water.   This will cause mold to fit into the wooden surface.

Professional winemakers distinguish two types of juice used as wine material:

  • received by gravity;
  • highlighted by squeezing grapes.

The juice of the first type, collected without the use of presses, is considered the most valuable in taste and nutritional qualities. Combining it with wine materials of the first and second, it is possible to obtain high-quality wines. Juice after the third extraction serves as a raw material for the preparation of simpler wine drinks. The cake remaining after pressing is used to make mash, chachi, grappa.

How to do it yourself

Making the device at home is easy. Schemes and drawings for the manufacture of grape presses do-it-yourself are freely available on the Internet or in specialized publications.

Materials and Tools

To make a homemade homemade grape press with a wooden basket, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • a tool for working with metal and wood;
  • screw pair (screw and running nut);
  • metal profiles 40x40 mm or corners;
  • circle made of duralumin or stainless steel;
  • dense steel plate;
  • round wooden blocks;
  • beams made of oak, beech or linden;
  • metal tape;
  • fixing materials, stainless steel screws.

All nodes that come into contact with grapes, pulp and juice must be made from environmentally friendly materials.

Step-by-step instruction

To independently create a press juicer, you need experience with wood and metal. Instructions on how to make a press for grapes with your own hands:

  1. Make a helical pair. If you do not have turning skills, then to make a screw pair you need to contact a turning workshop.
  2. Make a pressing piston. Wooden pressing element - plate, is made taking into account the parameters of the basket. The part is made of sawn-off wooden bars, fastened together by self-tapping screws. To avoid splitting the piston, a thick metal plate is mounted at the intended contact point with the screw.
  3. Prepare the basket. The press basket has the shape of a cylinder. To make it, wooden blocks are connected in the upper and lower parts at equal distances from each other using metal tape and stainless screws. The result is a rectangular canvas. To ensure compatibility of the parameters of the future basket and the piston, the canvas is wrapped around the piston, fixing the required diameter. The edges of the canvas must be connected into a cylindrical surface by screwing the extreme bars with screws to a metal tape.
  4. Make a pallet. The tray of a homemade grape press is made from a sheet of duralumin or stainless steel in the shape of a circle with curved edges larger in diameter than the diameter of the basket.
  5. Make a frame. The blank is a U-shaped structure, which is connected to the cruciform base with the lower part. It is made of a metal profile 40x40 mm and corners. The frame can be collapsible (the parts are bolted together) or all-welded. Its dimensions should correspond to the size of the basket. In the upper part of the frame, the running nut is fixed to the bolts or by welding. A rigid round plate made of metal is attached to the cross-shaped base, serving as a platform for the pallet.
  6. Collect the press. All prepared structural elements are assembled according to the drawing. The piston plate is attached to the screw. A pallet is placed on the base of the frame, and a basket is placed on it. After that, how to create a press for grapes with your own hands, it turned out that you can start processing the crop.

Winemaking can become a hobby that brings financial income. For this, it is necessary to ensure the proper care of the vineyards, effective processing of the crop using specialized equipment.

Press is an apparatus necessary in viticulture to simplify the production of high-quality juice or raw materials for winemaking. Thanks to this unit, it becomes possible to produce wine not only for personal needs, but on a semi-industrial scale.

Breeders have bred many grape varieties that have time to ripen in any strip of Russia. Grapes are harvested for the winter in the form of juice, which is very loved by children. And for adults there is nothing better than natural grape wine. To squeeze the juice, winegrowers have to make considerable efforts. To facilitate the work helps a special press. And having made a grape press with your own hands, you will be able to get a useful device, saving money.

General definition and types of presses

The grape press is a barrel with drainage grids, equipped with a tray for collecting juice. On top of the barrel is a power screw, with which pressure is applied to the pressing element. The barrel is made of stainless steel, as well as wooden planks of beech or oak. It is important that all materials are environmentally friendly.

Presses can be used not only for processing grapes. They are equally effective in processing apples, as well as other fruits and berries. All devices are divided into several types.

Mechanical. Such devices are popular with gardeners. Their distinctive feature is not very high productivity, associated with the need for manual labor.

Grapes are poured into a perforated basket. And the principle of operation of mechanical equipment is that the creation of the required pressure on the press is carried out due to the screw mechanism, which is rotated using the handle.

Electric. This category includes two types of equipment:

  • hydraulic Press;
  • pneumatic press.

The operation of the hydraulic press is provided by a hydraulic pump. That is, it exerts pressure on the pressing member with water. Pneumatic equipment provides for air pressure. Electrical devices differ from mechanical presses in the absence of the need for manual labor. Due to this, the productivity of work and the amount of juice obtained are significantly increased.

What materials will be required to make a press?

Press for grapes can be purchased ready-made. Manufacturers offer consumers various types of equipment, including hydraulic juicers. But it’s not difficult to make it yourself.

Grapes are loaded into a barrel or basket, in contact with its walls. Therefore, it is very important that it be made of quality material. Most often, two options are used.

Tree. Only hardwood, such as beech or oak, is suitable for these purposes. Having made a basket of wooden planks, it will be possible to get a durable and environmentally friendly design. But when using wood there are difficulties with caring for the equipment. After each squeezing of juice, the basket will have to be thoroughly washed and dried.

Metal. Cast iron or stainless steel are ideal. These materials do not oxidize in contact with fruit. Metal barrels are easy to maintain, easy to clean and have a high degree of hygiene.

The press itself is a circle, which is often made of wood. In addition, you will need to prepare bolts and nuts for attaching structural parts, a metal rod and bearings, as well as tools for working with wood and metal.

Procedure for the manufacture of the press

To facilitate the work on making a press for grapes with your own hands, you can take a drum from an old washing machine. Holes are drilled in the drum for attaching wooden planks. Drain strips can be cut out from the bars or use parquet boards.

From the same planks a “pancake” is made, which will act as the bottom of the basket. A block is screwed onto the “pancake” across the planks, which will provide a gap between the basket and the metal barrel.

Next, a U-shaped frame is made of a metal profile. It is important that the profile thickness is at least 3 mm. The frame is concreted in the ground, providing it with a stable position. If you need to make a mobile device, legs from metal pipes are welded to the frame.

A “pancake” made of stainless steel or cast iron, which acts as a press, is installed on the frame beam. To fix the “pancake”, a hole is drilled in the frame. A lever or handle is mounted on the press. Further twisting the handle, the press will fall into the basket.

The barrel is mounted at the base of the frame on a pallet, for example, in a basin. A hole is made in the pelvis into which the hose is inserted. Through the hose, the juice will drain into the receiving container.

It is also necessary to make a wooden shield, which will cover the grapes loaded in the basket. This completes the process of making a homemade press.

How to use the press

To use a homemade press, the basket is covered with a filter cloth. As a filter, you can use gauze folded in several layers, a special fabric, chintz or synthetic fiber. It is important that it does not contain hazardous dyes.

Grapes are removed from bunches. If it is supposed to make juice from it, the berries are washed under running water. For wine, washing berries is not required, since it is on the grape skin that contains wine yeast, causing natural fermentation.

Next, grapes are loaded into the basket. From above it is covered with a wooden shield. With the help of a lever or handle, a metal “pancake” is lowered onto a wooden shield. Under the pressure of the metal, the juice formed from grapes gradually enters the pallet and, falling into the hose, merges into the receiving tank.

After use, the grape press is taken apart, washed thoroughly and dried. These manipulations must be carried out after each use of equipment. Otherwise, wooden structural elements will rot.

Kira Stoletova

Grapes are a common plant whose fruits are consumed raw or processed into other products. From berries make juices, jams and jams. Wine is also produced from the fruit. For the convenience of squeezing juice from berries, a grape press is used, which you can buy or make yourself.

Principle of operation

Types of grape presses:

  • mechanical (screw, screw);
  • pneumatic;
  • hydraulic;
  • electric.

A popular type is a manual mechanical grape press with a screw mechanism and a container with holes. Its advantages are simplicity of design, low cost and ease of use.

The principle of operation of a manual screw press for a grape juicer:

  • the berries are crushed and laid in a container with holes;
  • through the rotation of the handles, a screw mechanism is set in motion, which lowers the piston down;
  • juice is squeezed out of berries, it flows out through openings into a pre-set tray;
  • from pallets the product is poured into a container for storage.

For the manufacture of grape presses use stainless steel or wood. It is better to take hard wood, for example, beech. A drainage part is made of materials, which is connected by metal rings.

Other varieties

There is a modernized mechanical press for squeezing grapes. It is distinguished by the lack of capacity for the allocation of juices. Instead, several wooden beams are staggered, which forms a drainage frame. Between them put the berries.

To squeeze, use a manual jack, which develops a force of 2-4 tons. The advantage of this mechanism is the large amount of juice obtained. Of the total volume of berries leaves 70% of the product.

A similar design has a hydraulic grape press. Instead of a jack for squeezing the juice, a barrel-shaped membrane is installed. It expands when water is supplied to the system, which causes a pressure of 1-2 atm. Juice protrudes through openings on the surface of the walls of the casing.

A similar operating principle for a pneumatic juicer. The difference is the use of compressed air to create pressure, which is supplied using a compressor.

Preparation of raw materials for grinding

All types of presses for grapes and other fruits that are used to obtain juice require additional preparation of raw materials. To prepare the berries, they use choppers, which they buy or make with their own hands.

The principle of operation of the device is to rotate the drum inside the casing, which turns the fruits into small gruel. It is possible to make both a manual option and upgrade it by installing an electric drive.

Making a crush at home

To make a grape press with your own hands, you will need:

  • wooden blocks;
  • metal plates and rods;
  • bearings;
  • bolts, washers and nuts;
  • rolls;
  • blueprints;
  • wood and metal processing tools.

In the manufacture of a homemade press for grapes with their own hands, it is better to use environmentally friendly materials, because their surface acts directly on food. To create a container, stainless steel or a drum from a washing machine is suitable.

Also, the press is made of wood and plastic. The disadvantage of wooden mechanisms is that they are difficult to clean and are not durable.

Manufacturing process

Press assembly sequence:

  • Installation of racks. To create them, take 2 pipes with a diameter of 2.2 cm and weld a U-shaped profile to them. Its height should ensure that the screw nut is free to move.
  • Welding clamps. This is an optional part of the mechanism, which makes it possible to mount the mechanism on a table or window sill.
  • Frame creation. Take wooden bars 2 cm by 10 cm and a length of not more than 80 cm. The width of the press depends on the size of the rollers.
  • Roller installation. To create a grape press, rollers with a corrugated surface are used. Their axis is directed to the axis of the screws. Every 8 cm, a 1.5-2 cm shift is made for each shaft. The mechanism is attached to the main part using bearings. To rotate the shafts at different speeds, gears of different sizes are used.
  • Bucket Installation Take a pyramid-shaped container and install on the transverse beams of the frame. The distance between the bucket in the shafts should not exceed 12 mm.
  • Installing a juice container. It is mounted at the heart of the whole mechanism. It is better to make a container from stainless steel.

Design Additions

To squeeze the juice was convenient, and the squeezing speed was easy to control, leaving the possibility of changing the gaps between the shafts. This is important if the product will be the basis for creating wine.

With the right selection of the gap, the grape seeds remain intact. Damaged seeds give the drink a bitter aftertaste due to the presence of tannins.

Home-made press for squeezing apple juice.

Manufacturing drainage grate

To make a homemade press for grapes and other fruits as productive as possible, you need to make a drainage grate. It is made from natural wood. Beech or oak is well suited. It is forbidden to use OSB and similar materials with a low price, since they contain toxic substances.

The thickness of the lattice segments must not be less than 2 cm. When using the lattice, bags for raw materials are required. They are made independently at home from a strong fabric.

To sew the bags yourself, use:

  • burlap;
  • synthetics;
  • linen fabric;
  • cotton;
  • calico;
  • jute.

Conclusion

The use of grape presses is rational only when small volumes of products are needed. Their productivity is 10-30 l / h, depending on the drive and the capacity.

To obtain a large amount of juice using industrial presses. For the crusher to serve for a long time, it is regularly washed and cleaned of residual raw materials.

The question of how to quickly and efficiently process the grown crop is quite relevant for those who own large plots of land and process them. Many of the devices that help to effectively solve this problem can be made independently: for example, it will not be difficult to make a press with your own hands for grapes. Using such a useful device, you can quickly process even a large grape crop, prepare juice for the winter, make wine or grape vinegar. To make such, does not require special knowledge and skills, the use of sophisticated equipment and expensive consumables.

What is a grape press?

A juice squeezer working on the principle of a press is a device with which you can squeeze juice not only from grapes, but also from other berries and fruits. Grape crush consists of the following elements:

  • bearing frame;
  • a tray in which squeezed juice is collected;
  • a barrel in which the juice is pressed;
  • an element by which the pressing of berries or fruits is carried out;
  • power screw starting the pressing element;
  • fine mesh, performing the function of a filter element.

For pressing grapes, it is best to use a screw type press. At the same time, berries of white varieties are pre-crushed, and red ones are put into processing after they lie in a warm place for several days and begin to ferment.

The principle by which the press for squeezing grapes works is quite simple, and it consists in the following: the raw materials loaded into the barrel basket are affected by a pressing element driven by a screw mechanism.

The most common materials used to make grape presses are stainless steel and wood. Such materials, being environmentally friendly, do not emit harmful substances and, accordingly, do not adversely affect the quality of the finished product.

Homemade Stainless Steel Crush

In order to make a press for grapes from stainless steel, in addition to a set of locksmith tools, you will need a welding machine, and some details of such a device will need to be ordered from a turner. For the manufacture of the press, it is not necessary to purchase new stainless steel sheets; you can completely dispense with the metal from which the tanks of the failed washing machines are made.

Do-it-yourself steel press for grapes is made in the following sequence.

  1. Tanks from unnecessary washing machines are cut and from the obtained metal, using a welding machine, make two cylindrical tanks without a bottom. The height of both containers should be 24 cm and the diameters 23 and 29 cm.
  2. A container with a smaller diameter will serve as a basket in which the berries will be loaded before pressing. In the walls of such a container around its entire perimeter, it is necessary to drill holes with a diameter of 8 mm, placing them in a checkerboard pattern. An external container is necessary in order to ensure the collection of juice, which will exit through the holes in the walls of the basket when pressure is applied to the berries loaded into it. To ensure that the finished juice is drained from the outer container, a cut must be made in its lower part.
  3. To install the outer cylinder with a basket, it is necessary to make a pallet with sides, one of the sides of which should be made beveled to provide a more convenient drainage of squeezed juice. On the narrowed side of the pallet, where the juice will flow from, there should not be a side.
  4. A flange with a diameter of 21 cm can be used as a punch that will exert pressure on the raw materials loaded into the basket. Such a flange is welded to a screw rod, which can be used as a screw from a water valve. A head with a hole for the handle is welded to the top of the screw, with which it will be rotated.
  5. Paired with a screw, on the lower end of which a punch is fixed, a nut is welded into the upper horizontal jumper of the U-shaped frame. To ensure high stability of the frame of a homemade grape press, it is concreted onto the floor or securely fixed to the surface of the desktop with screws.

We recommend perforating the working surface of the punch flange of the above construction with a drill with a diameter of 4 mm, which will reduce pressure on the side walls of the press basket. When making such a grape press, it is also advisable to weld the retaining rings in the upper and lower parts of the basket, which will ensure its location exactly in the center of the outer container.

A home-made press of steel elements can be used to press not only grapes, but also currants, aronia, apples and grassy raw materials. In order to extract the maximum amount of juice from certain types of plant materials, the latter must first be crushed using an ordinary meat grinder or a special grinder for these purposes. Do-it-yourself crusher for grapes, as well as devices of a similar purpose for other types of plant materials, can be made with minimal financial costs.

Wooden juicer

A more budgetary version of the device for squeezing grapes, which you can make yourself, is a wooden press. To use such a device without an external container made of metal, it is necessary to equip it with a pallet with high sides, which will prevent the squeezed juice from spraying on the sides. In this case, the metal elements of the homemade press will be only a screw with a nut and drainage gratings, with which layers of fabric bags with vegetable raw materials are transferred.

To make a basket of a wooden press for squeezing juice from grapes with a volume of 20 liters, it is necessary to prepare 20 boards 320x50x15 mm in size and, stacking them in a row, fasten together using self-tapping screws and two strips of stainless steel 0.5–1 mm thick. Connecting the boards from which the walls of the press basket will be formed, it is necessary to maintain a distance of 10-12 mm between them. After all the planks are connected to metal strips, the resulting structure is rolled up into a cylinder, and the ends of the stainless steel strips are fastened together using a bolted connection. The result should be a trellised wooden basket with a diameter of 29 cm, whose height is 32 cm.

The press for wine and grape juice, made of wood, can not be equipped with a metal stop flange. In this case, the role of the punch can be played by a wooden circle with a diameter of 27 mm, the pressure on which is also exerted using a screw with a handle or a car jack installed in the upper part of the grape press frame.

A grape press is often used in the preparation of grape juice and wine. It is popular not only in small private farms, but also in industry. Such devices are of various types, manual, electric, and if desired, you can make a press for grapes with your own hands.

What is a grape press

The grape press is a machine that squeezes juice from grapes. Such juice can be used simply for making wine, but it is very concentrated, so it is often bred during drinking. But most often the press for grapes is used in the preparation of high-quality wort.

During the pressing of grape juice by pressing, the seeds almost never break up, which means the taste of the wort does not deteriorate.

The device is a push device. When grapes are poured into the basket, the extrusion process begins. The piston presses the grapes under pressure and juice begins to ooze out of it, falling into a large canister. When the tap on the tank is opened, juice flows out. Thus, it is convenient to bottle, can. Juice from grapes is pressed 2-3 times, of course, at the first spin, the highest quality product is obtained.

Types of Presses

When choosing a press for grapes, you need to think about which type of device is best suited and will bring many benefits.

What materials are used for presses

In order for the press mechanism to work correctly, many different parts are used, which are made of various materials. But depending on what material dominates the press, there are several types, the most popular of which are only two.

  • The wood press is eco-friendly and safe. In such a press, you can make high-quality juice. However, a wooden press requires careful and proper care, disinfection, otherwise it will not last long.

Experienced winemakers do not advise squeezing juice from one batch of grapes more than 3 times. After the 3rd spin, the raw materials must be changed!

  • The metal press is made of cast iron or stainless steel. Such material is hygienic, easy to clean, and durable. If the metal is of good quality, it will not spoil the smell or taste of the juice.

How to make a grape press yourself

The price categories of the press for grapes depend on the material from which it is made, sizes, functionality, characteristics and some other qualities. And yet this is not a cheap mechanism. Therefore, many winegrowers make a press for squeezing grapes with their own hands.

The dimensions of the various parts depend on the size of the press you need, so they may vary in different cases. You can take a large or small basket for grapes, and the rest of the details, their sizes depend on this, the main element. This is important to consider! So, how to make a press for grapes with your own hands?

  1. The first thing to do is a basket for fresh grapes. To do this, you can take an old cistern, a drum from a washing machine, a large pan or something like that. Holes are made in the walls of this container in a checkerboard pattern with a distance between holes of 2-3 cm and a distance between rows of 2-4 cm. The diameter of the holes should be small, only so that the juice can ooz.
  2. If you need a grape press for a long time, then it is better to find a stainless steel cylinder, or find a fine mesh of stainless steel and make a cylinder with it. This design is not susceptible to rust, does not oxidize and does not give the juice a metallic taste.

You can make a grape press with your own hands not only from metal, but also from wood, but it will take more time and effort, otherwise the design will be unreliable.

Now the design is assembled and tested. A basket filled with grapes is placed in a basin with a faucet. Next, install in a frame with a press. The basket with grapes is closed with pancake and placed exactly under the jack. When the jack begins to unwind, under its action, a pancake crushes grapes and juice oozes from it. Grape juice through the holes of the cylinder enters the basin, and merges through the tap. To get a cleaner juice, it is filtered through gauze or a sieve.

As you can see, the design is quite simple, but you need to properly care for it, otherwise it will not last long. After each use, all components are washed and dried. And during operation, the grapes are choked intermittently so that too much pressure is not created inside, then it will be of high quality.
