Hello everyone, in this article I want to tell you how you can make a simple and powerful, air, car jack, or you can also say a pneumatic jack for a car from sewer pipes.

For this we need 2 plugs for 110 mm, 1 sleeve for 110 mm, a small length of pipe for 110 mm, a glue gun, it can be replaced with ordinary glue of the moment type, but just sealant, hoses, a small faucet and 2 car nipples are suitable with nipple.

To get started, take the clutch, measure 2 cm from its side and cut it off.

We cut off the cut ends with a knife or sandpaper so that they do not cling. Next, in the center of this coupling, we drill a hole with a diameter of 10 mm.
  We take our spool, smear it with glue, I took the sealant and put it into the hole.

Now we take the coupling, remove the rubber ring from one side, lubricate it with glue or sealant and put it on again.

  Further, on our plug with a nipple, we also coat the edges with glue or sealant and insert it into the sleeve, that is, glue it.

From 110 pipes we measure 10 cm and cut it, cut the cut piece along the length.
We insert a cut piece of our pipe into the coupling, mark it along there to cut another piece, it should lie exactly in the coupling, look at the photo, it will be more clear there.
  Now we smear this piece with sealant or glue and insert the sleeve, and on top we glue another cut piece from 110 pipes, 5 centimeters and also glue it for strength, as in the picture.
Next, we take a suitable wooden block or plank, we can leave a square plank, but I decided to cut a circle with a jigsaw.
We put on a hose of a suitable diameter on the nipple and tighten it with a hose clamp.
In the plank I cut a groove under the nipple with a hose, smeared the plate with glue and glued our blank to it. Cut off the hose that comes from our billet
  and insert a triple into it (everything was bought in the same plumbing store).
We insert another small piece of hose into this tee, we insert a small faucet into it, to release air from our hydraulic jack.
And on the last, third end of the tee, we also put on a small piece of the hose and insert another nipple from the tubeless tube into it. But we prepare the nipple in advance, that is, we simply cut off its rubber, wide part,

  so that he easily sticks into the hose, then tighten with a hose clamp. We will supply air from the compressor to it.

Next, on top of the coupling, we stick our gum,
which we lubricate in advance in lithol or something similar, we also need to lubricate our finished piston so that it slides better inside the coupling.
  We put the piston into the clutch.

But on top I decided to stick something else like a softener, but I did not find anything reasonable and stuck a circle cut out of plywood.

I also decided to immediately paint, there was only a yellow spray can with paint, so I shot it for beauty.
  The result is such a forked jack that easily raises the car ...
  and as before I lived without him;).

Now he is not an interchangeable assistant to raise the car, to change the wheel or something else.

Each motorist, with the purchase of a car, acquires a jack for servicing. Jacks are different, both purely mechanical and purely hydraulic. But they all have a major drawback, it is the convenience of use. It is impossible to install a jack under the car without bending into the "three-dooms". There are more advanced ones for stationary use, but the cost of such "rolls over". That's about such a jack and will be discussed.
  The author of the homemade product combined the two types of jacks together. Here's how he did it.


Design Features.
  For his design, the author used a ready-made hydraulic jack, making an adaptation to it. The whole structure consists of a thick-walled channel for 80. made of a whole workpiece. Bends of the structure were achieved by cutting the side walls and further boiling. From the photo you can clearly see the device support rollers (wheels), to dwell on them I do not see the point. For direct support on the car body, a rubber support is fixed, it can be taken from the support pillows of the springs, the engine ... having finished to the desired size.

To install and fix the jack, a metal plate is welded (screwed) to the lower channel, having a jack base size and a thickness of about 5 mm. The main emphasis will be on the channel.


To fix the jack, two holes of 8-10 mm were drilled at its base, and two guide pins were installed at the base of the welded platinum under the jack. That allows you to securely fasten the jack and at the same time freely remove it.
A piston pin was welded to the main rod of the jack from the car, cutting it to the size of the inner width of the channel. This finger rests on the movable part of the device and so that the jack cannot “slip”, limiters in the form of two metal plates with a thickness of at least 8-10 mm are welded on both sides of the finger inside the channel. In this case, the finger should easily rotate there.


For rigidity, welders are welded. In order not to increase the weight of the device, they are not made of solid metal. A handle is also welded for ease of use.

Having rolled up the device under the car, you, as usual, with the help of the handle, start lifting the main rod of the jack and thereby set the lifting lever in motion.

Due to the increased lifting lever, it is possible to completely raise the entire raised side. Both wheels are not supported.

The oil is drained using a special handle, which is part of the mechanism.   The lifting mechanism and a special retractable hydraulic cylinder are capable of lifting the work platform. A sufficiently high pressure is created, which allows lifting loads of various masses. The housing of such a device can be both short and elongated. The second option is most often used when carrying out repairs of heavy equipment. For example, it can be a bus or a heavy truck.

Good day to all. I have a diamond jack, I lost the handle from it, it was made in the form of a hook. Raising a car with such a jack without a handle is not very convenient. In two or three stores I asked about the pen, they didn’t have one, it was decided to come up with something else. Therefore, it was decided to upgrade this jack so to speak. Now we need to find, or rather, pick up the head, which we weld instead of our ears. So I picked up such a head, I don’t need to do anything with it, I just need to weld it well.

After welding, I sharpened this place a bit, did not grind too much so that there was a little iron left for hardness.

With such a head, it is easy to twist the jack and lift the car, it is especially convenient to twist the ratchet.

Yesterday I tried the jack in practice, changed all four wheels, put summer tires, it became just convenient and easy to work with the jack.

For them there is no need to acquire additional equipment. Such designs are called air jacks or pneumodocrats.

For such a device, a hose is enough to connect the exhaust pipe and the jack itself, and then turn on the motor. Just 2 minutes is enough for the tool to do its job. In this embodiment of the device there are no complex mechanisms that carry out work due to pneumatics.

Technical characteristics of pneumatic jacks

There are three main points by which such a device is evaluated:

  1. Carrying capacity. For the tool to be safe in operation, this figure must exceed the mass of the car itself. If the car is a passenger car, then the carrying capacity should be 1.5-2 tons, and if a car of the Gazelle type is 2.5-3 tons.
  2. Pickup Height. You should pay special attention to this parameter if the machine has a low ground clearance. You should be interested in this point in the case of frequent stuck in the mud. It is best if this characteristic is within 10 cm.

How to make a do-it-yourself jack

For you will need the following elements:

  • old truck cushion;
  • a bolt of the appropriate diameter;
  • a ball that can be freely positioned in the bolt;
  • wheel bolt from Lada;
  • chamber fitting;
  • drill.

From these components, the structure is assembled. A bolt is screwed into the hole of the pillow, focusing on the existing thread. In advance, a hole should be drilled in it into which the chamber fitting will be inserted.

The role of the valve will be performed by a wheel bolt from the Lada, in which a hole should be made. Now these elements need to be connected. But before this is done, a ball is placed in the existing outlet, so that during operation it can close the hole, then air will not come out.

To use such a device, you need a special pump. The jack is installed under the bottom of the car.   In such a device, you will need to use a small wooden block, which will abut the car. If desired, a trolley with wheels can be attached to the lower part, then it will be a rolling jack.

There is one inconvenience of such a home-made device. The pillow from the truck is quite large. Therefore, if the car has a low landing, then it will constantly have to be lifted to expose the jack.

  1. Pneumatics. In this embodiment, the load is lifted due to the force of compressed air. Such models work both from the equipment and from the exhaust gases of the car itself. Air enters the chamber, and that, in turn, begins to increase in volume, due to which the transport rises. Ease of use of such models is that special efforts are not applied, and with a compressor, the process takes only a few seconds.
  2. Mechanical. To use this analogue, it is necessary to make twisting movements with the handle or use another similar method. Such jacks are quite affordable, in addition, they have small dimensions.
  3. Hydraulic. The principle is similar to the previous version, the only difference is that in this case less effort will be spent. This is due to the fact that in the design of the device there is a liquid that ensures the ejection of the plunger with the load due to the pressure generated. This option has a long service life.
  4. Mechanical with electric drive. In this embodiment, all the work for a person is done by electricity. The amenities here are undeniable, but only as long as there is food. As soon as the lights are turned off, you will have to work in the same way as an ordinary mechanical one, with the only difference being that more effort will be needed.

Despite the fact that the pneumatic jack is the easiest to operate, there are also its own nuances in its use. To avoid the tool escaping from under the machine, it must be correctly laid. Therefore, before using the new device, it is better to pump it once idle, after which it descends and folds properly itself. In the process, it will be useful to cover the surface of the floor and the jack with some rugs. This will protect the tool from damage.
